Justin Goncalves is leaving CNN to focus on his podcast. He’s looking for a solid designer-developer to work with him on two phases of the website for the Silencio podcast.
We’re looking to put together a website to host our podcast, Silencio. We’ve purchased a few domains but haven’t set up hosting yet.
And like we previously discussed, I’m looking for a designer and front-end developer.
We’re also in the process of commissioning a logo that will in some ways dictate the style of the site but, for the first few weeks, we’re looking to put together nothing more than a splash page that will have an embedded Vimeo video, a link to our Kickstarter, and the ability to donate money via PayPal. (This e-commerce bit I expect to be the toughest part. Do you think that falls into back-end development?)
Eventually, this splash page — which we’re hoping to have up by 12/18, 12/22 at the latest — will be replaced by our podcast homepage. We’re going to embed SoundCloud players for each episode (aside from having it available on iTunes).
I’d like to model our site after a few other sites:
Mike Pesca’s “The Gist”
http://www.slate.com/articles/
What I like about it: the newest episode is at the top, the rest have summaries with smaller thumbnails below. Our content won’t be entirely evergreen but should have a decent shelf life.
Criminal Podcast
What I like about it: the simplicity, the black and white, and the social media stream on the right. (Though I think the design of those social media boxes is a bit meh.) That’s something I’d definitely want replicated on our site.
I also like how it has the different tabs at the top (as opposed to on a sidebar)
Thank you,
Justin
