[JOB] Teaching Opportunities at IMA, NYU Shanghai

Dear ITP Community.
I am writing to you from NYU Shanghai.  As many of you know, in September 2013 we launched the Interactive Media Arts (IMA) program at NYU Shanghai. We are now in our second year and this past semester had 104 students enrolled in production courses alone.
If you want to get a sense of how it has been here, please take a look at the photos located at http://ima.nyu.sh/teaching-at-ima/ ‎
Our students are wonderful. We are continuously impressed by the extraordinary IMA community that is developing. We’ve been working hard to build and grow our facilities here.
We have the opportunity to hire several instructors for the upcoming academic year (Fall 2015-Spring 2016) and so I am reaching out to you.
What we currently teach:

Foundation Courses
We have two foundation courses: Interaction Lab (a combination of Intro to Computational Media and Intro to Physical Computing) and Communications Lab (a variation of the old ITP foundation covering digital imaging, sound, video, and animation.)
Elective Courses
We are trying to be experimental and diverse with our elective courses. This spring we are offering: China Cyberculture, Design Expo, Exploring Net Literature, Paper Arts, Rapid Prototyping, Shanghai Street Food and Urban Farming, and Talking Fabrics.
What We Need:
We are a new and rapidly growing program. Therefore, we need many things:
– Individuals who can teach our foundation courses.
– Individuals who can teach interesting and advanced production courses.
– Individuals who in addition to their teaching will be excited to work with our fantastic international undergraduate student body and be dedicated to their learning.
– Individuals who genuinely wish to contribute to this start-up endeavor and our new and rapidly growing program.
Opportunities
As previously stated, we have a handful of academic posts available for the upcoming year. They are:
– Academic year positions (August 2015 – May 2016) Individuals hired for the full academic year will teach a 2/2 course load + program service.
– Semester positions (Fall/September-December 2015, Spring/February-May 2016) Individuals hired for a single semester will teach 2 courses + program service.
– Seven-week positions (September-October/November-December, February-March/April-May) Individuals hired for a seven-week position will teach 2 courses + program service.
What NYU Shanghai will offer:
NYU Shanghai will provide travel to and from Shanghai; faculty housing; competitive salary for length of teaching post paid in RMB; health insurance, and assistance in visa procurement.
Timeline/Process:
The application deadline is February 1st, 2015.  We hope to work quickly as decisions must be made in time for Fall 2015 course registration (early March 2015.)
If you are interested:
Send your CV and cover letter to: ima@nyu.sh
Please send a list of classes you have taught and classes you propose teaching here. If you have the ability to teach our foundation courses, please let us know. If you’ve had experience working with undergraduates (or even high school students) that would also be great to know.
Work Visas:
NYU helps all NYUSH employees with the process of obtaining a visa. That said, it is a process that can take 3 months and there are necessary steps (i.e. get a physical examination) that you need to complete in a timely manner.
If you have any questions don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
