Responsibilities We are looking both for talented programmers as well as “hands-on” types who enjoy putting together and field testing real-world systems. While we can’t do without folks who excel in a specific area, we also appreciate those whose skill sets encompass a wide variety of practical matters. Knowledge of the Disney Theme Parks is always a plus.
Basic Qualifications
  • Qualified applicants will possess a sampling of the skill sets below, but are not expected to cover all topics. Intern teams will be assembled to complement each other’s areas of expertise.
    • Programming – Application development for desktop / mobile / web services. iOS or Android Development
    • Linux – Python, shell scripting, and embedded devices like the Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone Black
    • Physical Computing – Sensors, actuators, Arduino and other low-power devices
    • Wired and wireless networking – Routers, switches, fiber optics, PoE, Wifi, Bluetooth, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and Zigbee
    • Photo or video experience – SLR and digital cinema cameras, lighting and rigging
    • Industrial automation – PLC’s, power distribution, design and assembly of control cabinets
    • Mechanical engineering – 3D modeling, 3D printing, and hands-on assembly and fabrication in varied materials
Preferred Qualifications
  • A strong passion for learning and a desire to help others
  • Self-starter with ability to take initiative and balance multiple priorities with minimal direction
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and technologies. We look less for knowledge of a specific technology than we do someone who can learn new things quickly.
  • Prior experience/knowledge of Disneyland or the Walt Disney World Resort
Required Education
  • Junior, Senior or Graduate student in a related field, such as Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Physical Computing, Art and Design, Interaction Design, etc.
Additional Information Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall), or have graduated within the last 6 months prior to participation in the internship program OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Not have already completed two consecutive (spring/fall) College or Professional Internship Programs
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney Cast Members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World Cast Members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland Cast Members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are May 2015 through July 2015.
Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing: A limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
