The Information Technology (IT) Department of the National office in New York City is seeking applicants for a full-time Reporting and Data Analyst.

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Associate Director, Enterprise Database Systems, the Reporting and Data Analyst is responsible for delivering timely, high-quality reporting expertise and support to ACLU end users. The Reporting and Data Analyst serves as Subject Matter Expert on technical issues related to the business rules, database architecture, and integration between related fundraising and reporting software. The Reporting and Data Analyst works frequently with end users to define business requirements, monitor and test data, produce reports, and guide data analysis.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and/or implement complex organizational reporting solutions for enterprise database users.
  • Define business processes, best practices and standardization of reporting and analysis for the organization.
  • Partner with outside vendors to accomplish business goals and ensure proper data security.
  • Create and manage ongoing data hygiene processes. Ensure the integrity of donor data.
  • Manage implementation, maintenance, and enhancements to synchronizations between the donor database and related systems.
  • Serve as a technical resource for solving and implementing business process needs, including the visioning and functional design of the next generation of the ACLU’s enterprise CRM.
  • Perform data maintenance when necessary, including data uploads.
  • Create and administer technical and end-user documentation as needed.
  • Provide 2nd tier business support for users in 53 remote Affiliate Offices and NY National Office for the ACLU’s nationwide fundraising database, with emphasis on data requests and reporting-based support issues.
  • Test enhancements and bugs in database application(s) and related tools as assigned.
  • Write specifications for database enhancements and new functionality as necessary.
  • Undertakes special projects as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience as a database report writer, business analyst, researcher, or other technical services role. Background with nonprofits and fundraising database systems is strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in report writing, technical specifications and documentation, data analysis, and translating business needs in a complex data-driven environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply database solutions to complex business situations and strategies, with expertise being drawn from prior experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relational database best practices and concepts.
  • Ability to develop custom reports with standard industry reporting tools. Knowledge of SQL-based database functions preferred.
  • Ability to test, diagnose and debug self-created reports and reports created by others.
  • Knowledge of SAP Business Objects or other enterprise business intelligence and reporting tools.
  • Ability to advise and provide leadership to others on procedures or technical matters.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and make independent decisions of crucial consequence, while considering organizational guidelines and strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while fostering a team-focused environment that encourages collaboration and peer support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Advanced Excel skills, preferred.
  • Willingness to travel, as needed.
