ANDROID DEVELOPER

The Barbarian Group is seeking an experienced Android developer who is versatile, willing to work on both native Android mobile application development and web apps. We are open to either front-end or back-end web development.

Requirements:

• In-depth experience writing Android applications using Java and the Android SDK, including a high degree of familiarity with XML and code driven UI development
• Internationalizing and localizing applications
• Experience with the application & Marketplace lifecycle
• Experience with Google Play services and tools such as Proguard
• Understanding of fragments, multithreading, thread synchronization, and battery-life optimization
• Experience integrating applications with RESTful web services and working with JSON
• Some experience with server-side development, including:
  • At least one server-side framework, such as Ruby on Rails, Drupal, or Laravel
  • At least one database system, such as MySQL
• Be able to follow software development lifecycle best practices in a team environment
• Experience with performance monitoring/testing tools such as Splunk MINT, New Relic, Google Play App Beta Testing, Appium, etc
• Experience with Git/SVN
• Be able to work with designed layouts in Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator and export assets, create 9-patches or XML for custom interface elements

And either:

• Front-end emphasis: Expertise in client-site Web development with HTML, CSS, Javascript and modern JS libraries such as: jQuery, Underscore, Angular, and templating libraries like Dust, Handlebars.

or

• Back-end emphasis: Expertise with a server-side language (Ruby, Python or PHP), relational database administration (MySQL preferred, others acceptable), exposure to NoSQL. Well-versed in general dev-ops.

Plusses:

• Experience with Android NDK
• Experience with OpenGL, Cinder, or Unity
• Experience with iOS development
