[CALL] Deadlines Extended! Visual + Digital Art residencies at The Banff Centre

To Whom It May Concern:

I’m writing to let you know about The Banff Centre’s spring Visual + Digital Art residency programs as I thought they might be of interest to you and your contacts.

Wood/Soda/Fire/Banff (April 27 – May 22, 2015; faculty: Robin DuPont and Dan Murphy). This residency, best suited to emerging and established artists with wood and/or soda firing experience, is an opportunity to work alongside other wood and soda fire practitioners; to create, share ideas, techniques and inspirations, and in turn, be inspired by the stunning surroundings of the Rocky Mountains.  Apply by January 28.

BAiR 2D (April 27 – May 22, 2015). Banff Artist in Residence (BAiR) 2D is a self-directed program for artists working in the mediums of analog and digital photography, alternative and historical photographic processes, drawing, printmaking, painting, paper making, weaving & fibre arts. Apply by January 28.

Banff International Curatorial Institute: Critical Art Writing Ensemble (April 27 – May 15, 2015; faculty Andrew Berardini). This residency will treat critical art writing as an aspect of literature – exhibition catalogues can expand into short novels and stories; reviews into haikus and soliloquies that can transcend the ephemerality of quotidian journalism. Apply byJanuary 28.

BAiR Spring (June 1 – 26, 2015). Be surrounded by a community of artistic peers, attend inspiring talks and performances by world-renowned visiting artists, and enjoy a spectacular mountain environment where you can engage or seek retreat during this self-directed residency. Apply by February 18.

I’ve included some links to three promotional posters below and we’d love it if you could print and hang these on your noticeboards.

I’d be grateful if you could share this information with contacts as you see fit. If you’d like to keep up to date with our programming news, you can always join our contact list. Or, if you have any questions about the programs, please do let me know!

With thanks,

Sasha
