[JOB] Full Stack Developer, Fake Love

Full Stack Developer – Full Time
Fake Love ( is an award winning experiential design studio in DUMBO/Brooklyn. We make art projects and custom experiences for commercial brands and artists. We rarely do the same kind of project twice, and are always exploring new ways of interaction and display from analog sculptures, large scale interactive projections, and intimate installations. Our focus is not just on shiny new tech, but on the human interactions and the experience of the things we make.
We are seeking a full time applicant who uses frontend and backend technologies to develop creative solutions to a wide range of projects. Our projects typically vary quite a bit, and the ideal candidate is someone who is flexible with their development platforms, and can pick the right tool for the job. In addition to developing components for client based projects, we are also looking for someone who can help construct a set of internal tools that can be reused across many projects. Should be able to implement custom tools that can be used for projects with a local server and a small amount of users, to projects that run in the cloud for thousands of users.

Applicant should be proficient or familiar with most of these systems:

  • NodeJS and Javascript
  • MongoDB/SQL/PostGRES
  • REST API’s (accessing and creating)
  • Production Deployment (Amazon AWS, Heroku, Linux admin)
  • CMS Development
  • HTML/CSS – Responsive Design for Desktop and Mobile
  • Comm. protocols like http/serial/websockets/OSC
  • Python/Ruby
  • WebGL/Three.js
Comfort and experience with full documentation of code and usage of git is an absolute necessity, as well as the drive and patience to finish projects and package them completely.
Ideal applicant is also familiar with C++ (openFrameworks, Cinder) – most tools that will be created will need to be integrated with these environments, so being able to write your own test classes for integration with other developers would be a bonus. Applicant must be local to NYC. Comfort with travel is a necessity.
This is a temp-to-perm position, with a three month trial period before full time employment.
