Join us and become part of the development of a new path-breaking software platform to plan and design better cities around the world and to support interactive geospatial analytics. The Autodesk urban planning team is looking for talented engineers who have a passion to apply their skills to help solving some of the most critical challenges of our time. As part of the urban planning team, you will be contributing to the development of cloud-centric desktop and mobile applications for urban design, visualization and analytics.
To be successful in this role, you must be passionate about solving complex problems and engaging in creative thinking as part of your daily job. You must have significant professional experience in designing and implementing software platforms and applications that respond to needs and requirements of real users in real-world workflows. You must be a person who enjoys being part of an innovative team in which people are driven by professional ambition and technical challenges, but also by a genuine desire to help each other in reaching a shared goal. And last but definitely not least — you need to be dedicated and have the persistence to engineer the highest quality code – not prototypes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop key components of Urban Canvas (client and server) as part of a collaborative team, and/or contribute to analytics using data science tools
- Contribute to a user experience that emphasizes flexibility and elegant design
- Influence the design of our platform, drawing on your experience and vision
- Refactor code to update dependencies, improve performance and stability
- Develop automated tests and improve code coverage
- Write effective documentation
- Accurately estimate work effort for user stories in sprints
- Present technology concepts clearly
- Communicate and collaborate effectively in an Agile environment
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (M.S.) in computer science or related field, or Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) and equivalent work experience
- Significant work experience in developing large-scale applications in a team
- Full understanding of Object-Oriented programming paradigms
- Knowledge of industry best practices and good software architecture
- Understanding of current trends in web development
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to take a team lead position
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge and experience with client-side and server-side C++ applications
- Experience in creating efficient and reliable JavaScript applications that work across platforms
- Working knowledge of HTML 5 and standard web APIsStrong knowledge and experience developing applications using Python
- Experience with data science methods
- Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
- Experience using the Qt framework
- Working knowledge of computer graphics fundamentals and libraries (OpenGL, WebGL)
- Working knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS)
Soft Skills:
- Ability to effectively promote ideas and collaboration at the various levels of the organization
