Summary
SayCel in cooperation with RiskEcon Lab and the NYU Courant Institute will explore new use cases to promote the economic and social benefit of low cost communications and emergency networks in rural communities.
SayCel is a Social Startup that works directly with local governments in underdeveloped regions and currently has two test installations in Nicaragua.
SayCel is currently looking for a Research Assistant to document the open source communication project used to serve networks in Nicaragua. Development of new applications for communications system will follow after completion of documentation. Applicant must be able to attend Communications conference from Feb 27-March 3, 2016 in Mexico.
Key Responsibilities
· Work minimum 15 hours a week.
· Document installation of Open Source Communications Project.
· Maintain regular communication with manager.
· Complete weekly progress reports.
· Maintain Github with current updates of the Open Source Communication Project.
· Complete weekly progress reports.
Requirements
· Thorough knowledge of Linux, and comfortable using Command Line.
· Ability to attend Rhizomatica Conference in Oaxaca, Mexico from February 27-March 3, 2016.
· Strong background in computer science.
· Ability to troubleshoot command line installation procedures.
· Understanding of network and security protocols.
