Perfect Earth Project seeks Website Developer –
Independent Contractor
Background Information
The Perfect Earth Project (PEP) is a nonprofit initiative focused on raising awareness about the dangers of lawn and landscape chemicals to humans, pets and the environment, and providing education in toxinfree land care, in the U.S. and around the world. Founded in the fall of 2013, PEP has already made great strides with its outreach and education programs.
Position Description
The website developer will work closely with the President/Founder and report directly to the Director of Education and Outreach to implement changes to the PEP website prior to launch. Additionally, the website developer will work on an hourly basis to implement minor changes to PEP’s website as need arises. This position is as an independent contractor with Perfect Earth Project as the client. Perfect Earth will be invoiced directly by you for services performed.
Primary Responsibilities
• Analysis of website’s current state to identify issues and suggest design improvements
• Complete integration of desired functionality into new PEP website
• Work with PEP’s graphic design team to directly implement design improvements
• Create searchable database of toxin-free educators and institutions worldwide
• Improve searchability of interactive map
• Routine website maintenance and implementation of minor changes
• Maintenance of hosting accounts for PEP
• Integration of custom email responses to PEP campaigns
• Occasional Tech Support for PEP staff working on website
Qualifications
Basics:
• HTML, Css
• Programming language: Ruby
• Framework: Ruby on Rails
• Project examples using Ruby on Rails
Good to know:
• JavaScript
• JavaScript framework: VueJS or similar, (angular, backbone, ember)
• Twitter’s Bootsrap
• RefineryCMS
• HAML
• Geocoder gem familiarity
Bonus:
• Ubuntu, Linux system administration and commands.
• Bower, Node
• Capistrano: used for deployments
• Experience with APIs.
• Mapping framework: LeafletJS
Salary & Benefits
Position will be as a part time independent contractor. Hourly rate commensurate with experience.
