The New York Times is seeking a user experience intern to join the T Brand Studio team.

T Brand Studio is a fast­growing team of energetic writers, content strategists, videographers,
designers and web developers who create some of the industry’s best branded content for
advertising partners of The New York Times. Our work spans a variety of forms — short­ and
long­form reported articles, documentary videos, interactive data visualizations, animations —

What You’ll Do
As an intern on the T Brand Studio team, you’ll be working alongside our User Experience
Architect and our amazing creative leaders, helping to conceptualize programs from infancy
through to design, development and implementation. It’s fast­paced with a broad range of work
and the potential to make significant contributions to our work through your recommendations
on how to make our experiences intuitive and usable. You will likely be doing something different
from one day to the next. Depending on your interest and experience, you might find yourself
doing a mix of the following:
● User Research: Conduct interviews with users to better understand their behavior.
Create user journeys and task flows. Analyze findings and translate them into
recommendations for design and development.
● Prototyping: Creating clickable prototypes or video mocks to help the team and our
clients better understand what interactions will look like. Test out different ideas for
solving interaction problems.
● Usability Testing: Help validate designs, our posts and the components that go into them
by testing them with real people.
Who Should Apply
This role is ideal for multi­talented, ambitious digital media whiz, someone who wants to get a
great sense of the creative side of native ad work from the ground up. If you are seriously
considering a career in creative digital media there’s no better place to learn.
● Candidates pursuing a 4­year university degree with an interest in User Experience,
Journalism, Design, Video/Photo, Media, and related fields.
● Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills; Strong verbal and written
communication and presentation skills
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team
● Proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite and tools such as Omnigraffle, Sketch and
InVision
This is a paid summer internship, starting June 2016

● This is a paid ten week internship (12 weeks for MBA interns)
● It’s full­time, 40 hours a week (35 hours for Marketing/Advertising)
● Location is The New York Times headquarters in midtown Manhattan
