JOB: lead developer and web development instructor positions at NYCDA

Seeking Lead Developer

Location: New York, NY

The New York Code + Design Academy has been teaching web development to professionals in New York City since 2012 and in Philadelphia and Amsterdam since 2015. We have a successful intensive program to retrain professionals from all industries and help them gain the skills they’ll need to become junior web developers, QA professionals, or product managers. Past students have utilized their skills in a number of exciting ways, including: founding their own startups, joining established organizations as junior developers or simply leveraging their new skills in their current career.

In a kind of “meta” twist, we’re a development school currently seeking a Lead Developer to head up automation efforts and the building of education platforms and tools. You’ll be leading our dev team, which includes both mid-level and junior-level developers. Currently we work mostly with Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, and jQuery but our stack is fairly flexible and we’re open to talking with technologists from most disciplines. Upcoming projects include a redesign of our student management platform, a new student lecture portal, and other exciting projects!

What we’re looking for:

  •  At least 2 years of development experience
  •  At least 6-12 months of experience managing a team or similar leadership experience
  •  Candidates who can demonstrate deep knowledge in at least two of the following

categories: UI/UX, frontend, backend, devops, project management. The ideal candidate is proficient in each of these areas.

  •  Passion and vision to create cutting edge education products to serve a growing market!

We’re opening at least 5 new locations this year domestically.
