The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is currently recruiting for an internship available in the Interactive department for the 2016 fall semester (Monday, September 19 – Friday, December 16). Fall internships are either full-time or part-time, depending on the department, and all internships require a minimum commitment of 2 days per week. Guggenheim internships are available for-credit, though are also open to students and recent graduates not receiving academic credit but who wish to pursue practical training in a museum environment.
I would be grateful if you could share the below description with your students and alumni, as well as with your colleagues or anyone else who might be interested in learning about internship opportunities at the Guggenheim. Should you or your students have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to be in touch.
Interactive
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is currently accepting applications for an internship in the Interactive department for fall 2016. Interns in this department are exposed to and assist with all areas of website management including design, editing, and content production, and learn about the ways an Interactive Department works with other museum departments to reach and expand visitorship and provide greater access to the museum’s collections, archives, and content. Interns will also be involved with special projects, such as conducting research to increase accessibility and inclusion through our site, and exhibition-related initiatives such as testing exhibition sites and gallery touch screens.
Ideal candidates will have academic coursework in Art History, English, or related fields, as well as coursework in web design, development, and user experience. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Website Content Management Systems (i.e. WordPress), HTML/CSS, and Microsoft Office Suite is required.
Please send a cover letter, resume, two references, and a writing sample via email to internships@guggenheim.org. Applications will be reviewed immediately upon receipt.
