INTERN: Media Architecture Practice Intern (Paid) / ESI Design

Media Architecture Practice Intern (Paid)
ESI Design is one of the world’s foremost experience design firms. As an interdisciplinary team of problem solvers, designers, and doers we work at the intersection of physical, digital and social design.  Whether we are inspiring customer-centric innovation for international corporations or inventing new ways to activate public institutions, our mission is the same — to inspire conversation, collaboration, and action.
Media Architecture is an emerging field of practice that ESI Design has been pioneering for the last decade. Data-driven, generative media experiences have taken root in several key markets including commercial and corporate development, hospitality and healthcare, retail, transportation hubs, civic and public art installations, and institutional settings.  This progress will continue to grow as the future of walls and building materials become smarter and increasingly dynamic to keep pace with the needs of the inhabitants that use them.
We are currently seeking a part-time Media Architecture Intern who will examine the key quantifiable aspects of notable projects throughout the US and beyond.  This will be accomplished by identifying the designers/architects, clients, budgets and development timelines, manufacturers, and key technologies (both hardware and software) of these installations.  We will also evaluate the effectiveness, design goals and integrity, visual quality, user experience, client or management opinions/feedback, operational stability, and value proposition of each project.
Responsibilities:
• Online design research
• Qualitative & quantitative analysis of goals and outcomes
• Making persuasive calls to designers, manufacturers, and real estate developers to generate the key information we will need to collect and compile
• Organize and process the information, review initial results with designers and managers across our multidisciplinary team, select key visual representations (photography or videography), and input into a searchable database
Qualifications:
• Must have excellent communication (verbal/written) skills
• Demonstrate a level of visual and technical acumen in the field of design with a focus on media architecture, exhibitions, systems technology and/or architecture
• Highly organized with the ability to efficiently use time
• Careful attention to detail
The position is paid ($15/hour) and we are seeking someone who can commit to 2-3 days per week.  Initially it will be for the spring term, but it could run longer.
To be considered, please e-mail your cover letter and resume with the position as the subject to: recruit@esidesign.com
