Wesleyan University invites applications for a Professor of the Practice to begin Fall 2017 for an initial three-year appointment. This position is part of a new initiative at Wesleyan in Design, Engineering, and Applied Science ( DEAS). The primary focus of the position is teaching courses that provide students with practical design, engineering, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate should embrace a liberal arts approach that integrates traditional engineering with design, and be capable of teaching interdisciplinary engineering courses with hands-on projects at introductory and intermediate levels. In addition, there will be an opportunity to teach courses in the candidate’s specific area of specialization. The faculty member is expected to contribute to the growth and development of new DEAS program, as well as our growing design and makerspace resources.
