What we are looking for:

Flashpoint is seeking highly productive summer interns who are interested in direct mentorship, in being exposed to a survey of software development, and working on meaningful projects for a fast-growing startup.

Flashpoint’s strength is in understanding the deep and dark web ecosystem. As an organization, we continually need to adapt to new internet protocols, migrations of communities, and emergent online criminal techniques, tactics, and procedures in order to retain access to high-value content.

Flashpoint’s summer 2017 interns will receive training in software development fundamentals and be exposed to the fast-evolving technologies used for next-generation online communications, communities, and networks.

An appealing Flashpoint internship applicant will be self-confident, curious, and excited about playing with the building blocks of the deep and dark web.

What you will do:

  • Rapidly incorporate new technologies and methodologies into your regular software stack.
  • Design, document, and build a software project from scratch.
  • Work directly with an assigned mentor to develop goals attainable before the end of your summer internship.
  • Participate in scrum process

What you will bring:

  • Ability to work on-site in New York City.
  • Basic knowledge of the Python programming language.
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of computer science.
  • Ability to work in a startup environment.
  • Must have valid US work authorization

What else would be great:

  • Be able to talk in detail about one or more coding projects, preferably extracurricular, to which you have directly contributed.
  • Show an interest in learning new software development techniques and technologies.
  • Demonstrate an active interest in internet culture, along with the deep and dark web.
  • Past experiences that demonstrate your discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.

What we will provide:

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, ability, and role responsibilities.
