Electrical Hardware Engineer

Teknikio is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, and creative electrical hardware engineer to develop an
NSF-funded educational Internet-of-Things (IoT) product to bring IoT-focused design to the K-12 classroom. You will be working to design and realize the next-generation low-cost hardware solution for IoT in education.
You will be responsible for designing, drafting, and overseeing the manufacturing and testing of the hardware, based on close ongoing communication from our firmware and design team. Must be able to provide references.
Responsibilities:
● Work as a member of the Engineering hardware team to design new components, products, and
systems
● Collaborate with our firmware team to specify and develop a MCU system
● Develop firmware and hardware testing procedures
● Design and modify analog and digital circuits
● Proficiency with multi-layer PCB layout for manufacture
● Build and rework prototypes as needed
● Test and verify hardware and firmware according to engineering team guidelines
● Develop assembly line test procedures, fixturing, and software
Skills/Experience:
● Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Computer Engineering or equivalent
● 2+ years’ experience working on embedded hardware projects
● Experience with various microcontroller architecture, including ARM Cortex.
● Experience with the Nordic nRF52840 or nRF52832 chip a plus.
● Experience with Internet-connected devices a plus (IoT, BLE, WiFi, etc)
● Proficiency in C, C++, Assembly, GCC.
● Competency in circuit and PCB design on a standard EDA platform (EaglePCB, Altium, etc.)
● Analog circuit design proficiency.
● Effective soldering and prototyping skills, including surface-mount technology
● Experience in scripting languages such as Python a plus.
● Linux competency, iOS/Android development experience a plus.

The position is 6-9 months (potential to continue beyond) in Brooklyn, NY, with some flexibility regarding full vs. part-time status. All work must be performed in the U.S.A. Salary and benefits dependent on experience.
