Detailed Job Description
Applications are invited for multiple Visiting Assistant Professor positions starting in August 2018. The Visiting Assistant Professor will contribute to the academic mission of the School of Interactive Games and Media and will be responsible for course preparations, formal classroom and lab teaching, and new lecture and lab course development in one or more of the following areas:
- Interactive Media
- Artificial Intelligence
- Real-time graphics programming
- Introductory programming (C#, C++, JavaScript)
- Data structures and algorithms
- Game design/ development
- Web design/development
- Physical computing
- Aesthetic/creative computing
- Digital Audio/Sound Design
Successful applicants are expected to contribute to IGM and the college via scholarship, research, as well as teaching and mentoring of BS and MS students. Successful applicants will have a passion for game/interactive media development and value and engage in cross-disciplinary work across the college and university.

Department/College Description
The College: The B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences is the largest of RIT’s nine colleges and has an enrollment of over 3000 undergraduate students and 800 graduate students. The college, with over 140 faculty members, is housed in a modern facility equipped with numerous teaching and research laboratories. The college is home to the departments of Computer Science, Computing Security, Information Sciences and Technologies, Software Engineering, the School of Interactive Games and Media, and a college-wide PhD program, providing many opportunities for cooperation and research collaboration within and beyond the college.
The School: The School of Interactive Games and Media (IGM) has nearly 30 full-time faculty and is committed to excellence in teaching and research. We offer undergraduate Bachelor of Science degrees in Game Design and Development and New Media Interactive Development as well as a Master of Science and a BS/MS in Game Design and Development. IGM serves nearly 800 undergraduate students (including mandatory co-op experience) and about 60 graduate students. IGM is currently ranked fifth by the Princeton Review nationally in Game Design and Development programs at the undergraduate level and seventh at the graduate level. IGM works closely with RIT’s MAGIC (Media, Arts, Games, Interaction & Creativity) Center, which is a university-wide effort to foster a wide range of collaboration, research, and publishing in games and digital media. The MAGIC Center is comprised of both a university research & development center and an independent game publishing studio.

- PhD or MFA in related discipline
- Successful applicants will have a record of publicly disseminated scholarly and/or creative work in one of the areas listed above and demonstrated the ability and/or potential to teach effectively.
