Dear ITP,
I wanted to share with you information about a project I’m currently working on with the hopes you can disseminate among your networks as I believe many people in the ITP community would be interested in this opportunity.
I’m working for China Residencies, a not-for-profit organization that funds excellent creative people and projects from all over the world through residency programs in mainland China and Hong Kong, as well as support and advise existing and envisioned residency programs across the region to foster sustainable creative exchange. We have funded artists like Harlem-based artist/poet Latasha Nevada N. Diggs, trans Nicaraguan artist Elyla Sinverguenza, and Rotterdam-based artist Amy Suo Wu.
Currently, China Residencies has an open call for a fully funded, three-months residency in Beijing with Inside Out Museum for artists and researchers working in any medium who are concerned with history, politics, and society of contemporary localities and realities in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the greater Chinese diaspora worldwide. The reviewing committee is particularly interested in proposals that look into specific periods of time in China’s contemporary art history, including sub-currents in art that are relevant to critical issues in today’s societies and policies, as well as all cultural and artistic topics that remain undiscussed or under-discussed
Deadline is September 1st. The application is simple and straight forward and you can find it here.
Benefits include:
- Housing and workspace in loft studio at the Inside Out Museum (two bedrooms upstairs and a large studio on the first floor)
- Round trip travel to Beijing
- Research Stipend
- Airport pickup, welcome dinner
- Optional artist talk or workshop & open studio
- Project support from the Inside-Out and China Residencies teams
Thank you very much and feel free to reach out with any questions.
Sincerely,
Josue
