The VIRT-EU Design Challenge: Long and Detailed Version:

The VIRT-EU project invites working professionals in the field of design and technology to join the VIRT-EU Design Challenge to explore new ways of living
together! https://designchallenge.virteuproject.eu

Living together in all our differences is part of our present and will shape our futures. We share our space, our information, and our devices in complex ways, even as we simply try to get through ordinary life. How might we use connected Internet of Things systems and products to re-imagine collaborative and communal living that is sensitive to differences between members of these living spaces? How might we design for supporting the infinite diversity of human social configurations?

We are seeking ideas about how to balance personalization, privacy, and the experience with the interests and preferences of different people who live together and apart. What kinds of creative interventions are possible using connected devices to provide for life together and apart as interconnected social beings, not only as individuals?

We invite you to come up with a concept in response to the design challenge brief. Beginning with July 3rd we invite interested participants to submit an initial concept. We will respond with feedback and provide access to our custom tools to support the last stage of concept development. June 20th is the final deadline for full concept development, including a technical diagram, user storyboard and business plan. We will announce finalists between June 24th and June 27th (depending on the number of submissions). These finalists will be invited to present their concepts as part of ORGCon 2019 on 13 July 2019 in London (https://orgcon.openrightsgroup.org/2019/index.html).

The winning team will receive a 1200 GBP reward plus one hour of 1-to-1 mentoring from an IoT industry leader. The runner-up team will receive a 750GBP reward plus one hour of 1-to-1 mentoring from an IoT industry leader.
