teaching computer science & technology skills; we harness their passion & expose them
to careers in the field. Based in NYC, with a growing national online presence, TKU
inspires neurodiverse students to create & share the tools of technology in a supportive
community. By addressing gaps in access to tech, TKU strives to change the paradigm

Job Summary
The Director of Operations is a key member of the senior leadership of TKU. This
position will be responsible for overseeing and managing multiple aspects of the
organization to maximize organizational procedures and guide its growth. The Director
of Operations works closely with the Executive Director along with the Development and
Education teams to help the organization carry out its mission by establishing and
sustaining operations and infrastructure to support current and new program initiatives.
They should be organized, strategic and data-driven and care deeply about enriching
the lives of neurodiverse students. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional leader
who is excited about joining a small team on the verge of immense growth and would
like to have a hand in that growth!
Responsibilities and Duties
Systems, Finances & Data (60%)
● Systematize and streamline various administrative and data processes to make
workflow efficient for all staff
● Create systems to organize information and data related to student information,
financial aid, and other information necessary for grants and program planning
● Run data reports as needed for grants, and to present to various stakeholders
● Analyze financials to ensure programs and purchases are in line with budget
● Purchase and process program supplies, software, and other related purchases
● Process and act as point of contact for parent payment systems (ie: ACCES-VR,
Medicaid, self-direction, and 3rd party payments)
● Process and track foundation and government grant contracts (grant writing is
done by the Development Team)

Strategy & Team Management (20%)
● Work with Executive Director on strategy, growth, new initiatives and special
partnerships
● Supervise marketing assistant for social media and marketing campaigns
● Debrief with staff and ensure programs are running smoothly/find ways to
optimize program execution
● Help with implementation of special fundraising events
Community Outreach (10%)
● Work with the Executive Director on various advisory councils (parents, alumni,
workforce)
● Act as an arbiter for parents and oversee that parent registration and other
systems are efficient
● Represent organization in fairs, conferences and other public-facing events
● Communicate with various external stakeholders to discuss the program
HR (10%)
● Recruit and hire various part-time staff across teams
● Onboard new staff with necessary hiring documentation and NYU coordination
● Run payroll via payroll company
● Organize yearly tax documentation
● Process health insurance via health insurance company
● Act as point of escalation for staff issues and compliance
Qualifications and Skills
● 7+ years of experience as an operations or program manager with knowledge of
organizational systems and operations
● Bachelor’s degree in related or relevant field required; Master’s degree a plus
● Excellent writing and interpersonal skills
● Experience with public speaking and/or representing prior organizations in
public-facing events
● Exceptional project management and organization skills
● Ability to work in a small team that is changing and growing rapidly
● Ability to work mostly independently but enjoys teamwork
● Experience managing people
● Experience working with government agencies a plus
● Knowledge of non-profit organization systems
● Experience working with youth and/or neurodiverse people a plus
● Willingness to travel to various conferences/events across NYC and outside NYC
● Willingness to work on select weekends and evening hours when we have
programs (i.e. Sunday and occasionally evening programming )
● Willingness to work in a hybrid model (remote roughly 3-4 days a week in
September to May, in-person 5 days a week from June to August)

Technical Skills:
● Google Suite
● Microsoft 365
● Adobe Acrobat or Preview (PDF editing skills)
● Data analysis skills (Microsoft Excel: pivot tables, filtering, formulas, vlookup)
● Airtable experience a plus
● CRM (customer relationship management) or donor management experience a
plus (ie: Little Green Light, Donorbox)
● Website Content Management System (CMS) experience a plus
● Payroll system experience a plus (i.e.: Paychex)
● Digital Media, Computer Science, and/or STEM Education knowledge a plus
Compensation & Benefits
● This is a full-time, salaried position with the salary range at $80k – $85k
● 100% health coverage is paid by the organization (dental & vision not included)
● Unrestricted sick and mental health days
● Full-time employees receive 12 days of vacation during their first year of service,
plus 6 federal holidays. In addition, TKU is closed between December 24 to
January 2, and all full-time employees are paid in full for this time
● Organizational laptop–MAC (to be returned at the end of tenure)
provided along with Apple earbuds
● Payment for internet for remote work provided along with needed computer
accessories (keyboard, chair, desk, etc.)
● Time and funds are available for professional development opportunities and
attendance at national educational conferences
Covid-19 Vaccination Policy
As per the requirements listed by NYU where TKU programs are held, all TKU
employees are required to be fully vaccinated (including booster vaccination) against
COVID-19, to upload proof of their vaccination to NYU’s portal, and to have that
vaccination documentation accepted by NYU.
