JOB: XR Unreal Engine Internship at ZeroSpace for ITP Students

I am an ITP alumni and am now working at an XR production studio called ZeroSpace in Brooklyn. We are looking to hire an Unreal Engine Generalist Intern for the summer, start date late May to early June for three months with the potential to convert to full time. The candidate would work with a team of highly talented artists, creative technologists, and engineers to create worlds and stories for interactive experiences, games, films, and other virtual productions.

Unreal Engine Generalist Internship Job Description, ZeroSpace

About the role:
ZeroSpace is seeking an Unreal Engine Generalist Intern to work with a team of highly talented
artists, creative technologists, and engineers to create the next generation of real time content.
The candidate would be creating worlds and stories for interactive experiences, games, films,
and other virtual productions. They must have an in-depth understanding of Unreal Engine and
related workflows, have a collaborative approach to problem-solving, and learn new concepts
quickly. The role is full-time on site in our Brooklyn office for the duration of three months with the
potential to convert into a full time position.
What you’ll do:
– Design and create environments in Unreal Engine based on client briefs, moodboards,
scripts, using kitbashed, sourced, or custom assets
– Create shots and sequences that will require the animation of characters, props, and
cameras, using the cinematic language to tell a story
– Assist in creating custom materials, FX, or functionality that enhance a scene
– Work with the creative director and our team of artists and developers to create high
quality real time content on tight timelines
What we’re looking for:
– 2+ years of experience with Unreal Engine, specifically with Sequencer, Movie Render
Queue, Post Process Effects, lighting, materials, and optimization

– Some experience with any DCC or modeling tools such as Autodesk Maya, 3ds Max,
Cinema 4D, or Blender with a preference in hard surface modeling
– Understanding of how to prep models for Unreal and import/export assets
– Possess a strong sense of composition, color, and environmental storytelling, with an
intuitive understanding of the line of action
– Experience using motion capture and animation to tell a story, and an inherent
understanding of animation timing
– Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a close team environment
– Knowledge of real world cameras, and an intuitive understanding of focal length, camera
sensors, and depth of field
– Hands on experience with still photography or film
– Highly organized, detail-oriented, ability to work independently, and ability to solve
problems when it comes to creating first-of-its-kind experiences
Ways to stand out:
– Experience with Real-Time FX with Niagra
– Experience working with character animation and rigging
– Virtual Production experience and understanding
– Experience with OSC, DMX, Remote Control API protocols
– VR/AR experience
– Video production or editing experience
