Client:
One of our favorites! They’re a ~$250M-funded healthcare startup that makes mobile apps as prescription medication for a variety of health conditions. This role sits on their small, experimental R&D team, creating products that will launch 3-5 years in the future. We’ve known them a long time and they have a SUPER nice and smart culture, low ego, kind, and empathy-led. It’s a healthy and pleasurable place to work.
Location:
MUST currently be based in the USA.
If you’re freelance-only: can choose 100% remote, or hybrid onsite in NYC
If you’re Temp to Perm: hybrid onsite downtown NYC (2x/week) once it goes fulltime. They offer relocation assistance to NYC.
The role:
A freelance OR temp to perm Senior Prototype Engineer to start ASAP for 2-3 months – you’ll join their R&D team to jump mid-stream into a fast-moving project, prototyping a native mobile app that helps treat patients using gamification. You’ll be making prototypes of various fidelity to put in front of real users to test them out.
If you’re interested in temp-to-perm, that’s ideal, but not required, as they need immediate help mid-stream in this project.
Logistics:
- Starts around Tues Dec 5th (possibly later)
- Goes through February
- 40 hours/week during daytime work hours
- You can be based anywhere in the USA, will work on East Coast hours
- Hourly rate is ~$900-100/hr via 1099, commensurate with experience
- If you convert to fulltime, the salary range is $150-192K + 10% target bonus + equity
You’ll be responsible for…
- Prototyping apps in React Native and Typescript
- Some data streaming with SQL is a plus (you don’t need to be super well-versed with this)
- Operating inside of Figma as needed, but not designing in it
- Interfacing with various stakeholders including the R&D Manager, Designers, Scientists, Content Designers, User Researchers, and other Engineers
You have…
- At least 4-5 years professional experience using React Native and TypeScript
- NOTE: if you’re strong in React but less so in React Native, that’s OK – still apply!

Some Figma / UX design and SQL skills are a plus but not required
- Experience developing for mobile

Any experience in healthcare and / or gamification is nice but not required
- The ability to jump in at the middle of a project and work independently
- Experience or comfort working with experimental and ambiguous projects
- Authorization to work in the USA (they cannot support visa transfers at this time)
