JOB: NYU Photography & Imaging Technology Specialist

Position Summary

Serve as point person supporting the Department of Photography & Imaging’s (DPI) IT infrastructure, including Mac and Windows desktops, endpoints, learning spaces, and servers. Administer and support applications and databases. Provide tier-3 support for endpoints, servers, systems, and applications. Provide technical leadership for new systems, processes, and applications. Develop and support maintenance and security strategy to ensure smooth, uninterrupted operation and security of data; establish and implement backup, remote and cloud access procedures. Develop and provide technology training for staff and faculty. Research emerging technologies and make recommendations. Partner with University departments, schools to develop and implement university-wide technologies. Partner with consultants, vendors, and IT departments to resolve technical, operational and security needs.

Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology

Required Experience:
3+ years Relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in desktop support, database management, IT security software.

Preferred Experience:
3+ years Relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in an artistic environment

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to effectively integrate and manage complex projects in a cross-platform (Windows and MacOS) environment. Strong understanding of hardware, software, database management, and networking (i.e. hardware, software, database management, and networking) along with working knowledge of web-design, and emerging technologies. Understanding of IT tasks including managing endpoints; virus and spyware protection; system memory and hard disk upgrades; software installation; printer/scanner synchronization; mobile device configuration; imaging; network and user account administration; and back-up, recovery, and restoration. Effective communication and relationship building skills with multiple constituencies. Ability to manage time, set priorities, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of analog and digital photography, digital media hardware associated with 3D design for both on screen and physical application including 3D scanning, motion capture, VR/AR and other related input/output devices; AEM CMS; video editing. Capacity for flexible thinking with excellent analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills. Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of an organization, both inside and outside the University. Enthusiasm for exploring how technology can support teaching and learning.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $63,900.00 to USD $78,100.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
