CALL: Funded Research Opportunity – Study on A Computer vision-based approach to detecting defects on urban building façades

Funded Research Opportunity
The Building Informatics and Visualization Lab (biLAB) researches how data can inform the design, construction, and operation of buildings and infrastructure systems in urban settings. Currently, biLAB is investigating how to generate realistic synthetic data with defects for an ongoing funded study on ‘A Computer vision-based approach to detecting defects on urban building façades.’

Towards this research direction, biLAB is looking for students with VR development experience to assist in building immersive environment models and generating realistic-looking defective facades in different scenarios. Prospective applicants should already have some coursework or project experience in iterating between 3D modeling and coding object behavior using Unreal and its Scripting API. Students will be funded for their contributions to this project.

Required: Experience with Unreal
Preferred: C++ Scripting API experience
