About

Founded in November 2001, bitforms gallery represents established, mid-career, and emerging artists critically engaged with new technologies. Spanning the rich history of media art through its current developments, the gallery’s program offers an incisive perspective on the fields of digital, internet, time-based, and new media art forms. Supporting and advocating for the collection of ephemeral, time-based, and digital artworks since its founding, bitforms gallery artists are in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Tate Modern, London; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.; the National Portrait Gallery, Washington, D.C.; Center for Art and Media (ZKM), Karlsruhe; Centre Pompidou, Paris; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; and Borusan Contemporary, Istanbul, among other institutions internationally.

  1. Learn more about new media art practices

  2. Email and outreach best practices

  3. Writing information recaps and artwork narratives

  4. Exposure to gallery structure

Potential responsibilities      ..

  • Update web platforms, including the gallery’s website, privateview pages, and Wikipedia

  • Create social media posts and recaps – Heritage posts

  • Adding artwork images (possibly records) to database

  • Research museum and other public collections

  • Adding Vimeo embed codes to database

  • Collecting outreach emails for curators, press, museums

  • Artwork updates in database

Qualifications                      ..

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program

  • Excellent research and organizational skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail and strong follow-up skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently

  • Familiarity with Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Dropbox, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, and ChatGPT 4.0

  • Knowledge of, or interest in art history and art business

  • Proactive attitude
