Job Responsibilities
=Objective of The Position=
– Operate and maintain the Creation Center prototype lab equipment in line accordingly to the guidelines on safety, scope and budget.
– Build mock-ups and prototypes for PM industry segments and customers on time and on budget in BASF’s Creation Center prototype lab or outsourced from external vendors.
– Create digital 2D and 3D models and visualizations of design concepts and prototype components for review and development.
=Main Tasks=
– Coordination of procurement, installation and maintenance of machines, equipment, materials, tools and parts as needed for the efficient operation of the Creation Center prototype lab facility on Shanghai Campus III.
– Actively develop and promote design and prototyping workshops with design partners, university institutions, potential and existing BASF customers and internal stakeholders. – Proactively engage with customers to connect with BASF internal stakeholders for leads and opportunities.
– Ability to be able to build and present workshops at events, tech days and industry open days. – Capable of 2D and 3D CAD software to model design concepts and generate visualizations to further review and iterate until approved for prototyping.
– Build prototypes and proof-of-concept mock-ups in line with design brief, budget and deadlines. – Build and maintain a network of external model making resources to draw from when in-house equipment is insufficient.
– Maintain the Creator’s Lab in a safe, clean state, and coordinate purchase of consumable materials and parts.
– Continuously stay up-to-date with the latest rapid prototyping technology, CAD/CAM design software, and modelmaking resources to ensure efficient operation.

– Possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design or equivalent.
– Design based portfolio must be submitted.
– Minimum 2 years of working experience in model-making and prototyping with proven track-record for lab safety.
– Good English in both written and spoken.
– Proficient in basic presentation Powerpoint and Acrobat software, 2D and 3D design software such as Illustrator, AutoCAD, Fusion360, Keyshot or equivalent.
– Good working knowledge of rapid prototyping equipment such as FDM, SLS or SLA 3D printers, CNC routing and multi-axis milling machines and laser cutters.
– Basic electronics and soldering know-how.
– Basic programming for Raspberry Pi, Arduino or equivalent microcontroller systems.
– Open-minded creative personality with strong problem solving and project management skills.
– Ability to work independently, self-motivated.
– Good communicator.
– Opportunity to travel overseas to conduct workshops yearly.
