INTERN: Administrative and Studio Internship

This is a part-time internship where we will be working together on the following responsibilities both in the studio and remotely. Some experience and general dedication to learning these skills is appreciated. The position is designed for one or two individuals. Hours per week vary and depend on the allowances of the internship program.

Key Responsibilities: 

Assist with sculpting, carving, mold making, casting, wood and metal work, and electronics troubleshooting. 

Support fabrication, sourcing, and communication with vendors. 

Problem-solving electronics, designing exhibition/installation drawings, and 3D modeling.Help with fabrication and sculpting in the studio; assist in setting up a studio foundation.Administrative organization of artist archive, consignments, writing, documentation, and portfolios for curators. 

Assist in developing a new website, establishing communications and mailing lists.Coordinate with international galleries; support with registrar skills and shipments for shows/fairs.Project management: maintaining internal calendars, grant applications, tracking deadlines, organizing budgets. 

Typical Studio Day: 

Tasks will vary from day to day while supporting an upcoming solo show this fall and international art fairs. A typical day may begin with coffee or tea and checking in on administrative tasks, followed by planning the day. This could include traveling to a fabrication facility, working on writing together, reviewing floor plans for exhibitions, or getting straight to hands-on studio work. 

Desired Skills and Qualities: 

Attention to detail, passionate about the arts, quick to learn and experiment.Experience with electronics, tech, and new media a plus. 

Background in string instruments, music, and DAWs such as Ableton a plus.Basic wood, metal, and sculpting skills. 

Clear writing and communication skills; interest in language is a plus. 

Skills learned through assisting an artist and managing their studio will be shared to support and strengthen your own practice. This internship is an opportunity to gain experience across fabrication, administration, and exhibition production.
