About the Event:
With over half the world population now living in cities, Keeping It Urban: Art, Tech, Collective is not about urbanism itself, but rather the energy of tech, arts, and culture that are born only from the density of cities.
In a political climate of rapid suburbanization and sterilizing cities, the summit reclaims from top-down silos. It brings together cultural forces — artists, technologists, civic leaders, and funders — that have been shaping livable cities independently into the same room to now build together.
This will be a 150+ person summit featuring expert panels, startup pitches, research talks, and an all-day immersive gallery. The event will bring together NYC’s leaders in academia, open-sourced tech, and civic spaces. We’re featured as part of NYC Open Data Week w/ 6k attendees, backed by Backslash Arts and Greg Pass, former CTO of Twitter, and Cornell, with speakers from MIT Media Lab, xDesign@Google Sidewalk Labs, startups, and more.
