Time Commitment: 10–20 hours per week, Sep – Dec

About Us

Another is an early-stage, AI-native startup building software that helps brands and retailers manage and sell off-price and excess inventory more efficiently. We automate off-channel inventory management, mitigate bottlenecks in inventory transactions, and give reverse logistics teams

real-time, accurate visibility across departments and channels. Our small but mighty team works across technology (AI/ML), apparel, and beauty, and partners with companies ranging from mid-size businesses to Fortune 500s. We’re backed by early-stage venture funds behind Figma, Notion, and The Browser Company.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a QA Automation Engineer to help us catch bugs before they reach users. Right now, a person manually clicks through the app before releases, and things still slip through — bugs get pushed regularly. We need someone to build automated tests that simulate real user flows (logging in, navigating, submitting forms, etc.) so problems are caught before they ship, instead of after. As a bonus, if you’re also comfortable with CI/CD, we’d love your help making sure those tests actually run automatically on every change — but the core of this role is making sure the product works when users click on it.

This is a great fit for a Master’s student (Computer Science or related field) with a solid grasp of software testing and a builder’s instinct for finding what’s fragile in a codebase. You’ll be trusted to make real technical calls — what to test, how to structure it, and how to make it stick — with direct input from engineering, not a prescribed checklist.

What You’ll Work On

  • Writing automated end-to-end tests that simulate real user flows across our web app (using Playwright)
  • Identifying which flows are most important or most bug-prone, and prioritizing those for automated coverage first
  • Writing unit and integration tests (Vitest) for critical pieces of logic
  • Reducing how much of our QA process depends on a human manually clicking through the app before every release
  • Documenting testing conventions so the coverage you build stays useful as the app grows
  • Working with engineering to understand what’s broken most often and why
  • (Bonus, if you’re interested) Helping wire these tests into our GitHub Actions CI pipeline, so a broken flow blocks a bad change from shipping instead of relying on someone remembering to test manually

What We’re Looking For

  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience writing automated tests — coursework, research, personal projects, or internships all count
  • Strong command of JavaScript/TypeScript and comfort picking up new frameworks quickly
  • A “break it before the user does” mindset — you actively look for edge cases and failure modes, not just the happy path
  • Self-directed and comfortable owning ambiguous problems — this role starts with more open questions than existing playbooks
  • Clear communicator who can explain what’s broken, why it matters, and how to fix it

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with a testing framework such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Jest, or Vitest
  • Any exposure to CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions or similar) — we’re glad to find someone who can do both QA and CI/CD, but it’s not required
  • Experience with React or Next.js
  • Interest in retail, inventory management, or operational/workflow-heavy products

What You’ll Gain

  • Direct, visible impact on product quality at an early-stage startup — the tests you write will be catching real bugs, fast
  • Ownership over how QA works here, with real say in what gets automated and how
  • Hands-on experience with modern testing tools and (optionally) CI/CD pipelines
  • Mentorship from engineering and company leadership
  • Flexible schedule (10–20 hours/week)
  • College credit or stipend available
