Chico MacMurtrie is internationally recognized for his large-scale, performative, kinetic installations, and interactive public sculpture. He has exhibited widely in America, Europe, and Asia, and has received the support of many notable granting agencies, including the Rockefeller Foundation and the Daniel Langlois Foundation. His awards include five grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Fundación Telefonica / Vida Life, CEC Artslink and Ars Electronica award.
Chico MacMurtrie is the Artistic Director of Amorphic Robot Works (ARW), a collective he founded in 1991, consisting of artists, scientists and engineers. Currently operating out of Brooklyn, New York, ARW is dedicated to the study and creation of movement as it is expressed in anthropomorphic and abstract robotic forms.
ARW is currently looking for a few skilled interns to join the team for a series of performances starting in September and the production of a film at the Robotic Church in Redhook, Brooklyn as well as the set up, maintenance and performances of an interactive inflatable installation that will show at Pioneer Works in October.
Skills needed:
Fabrication
Kinetic / Robotic Sculpture
Knowledge of pneumatic systems
Electrical wiring understanding of basic circuits
Machining skills
Mechanics
Welding
Programming Max, Ableton and Arduino
Experience with multi-media performance
Lighting
Sound
Video/Film
This is an opportunity to join the Amorphic Robot Works team of passionate creative people and to expand your skill set in a fun and fast paced environment.
Internship candidates should have two or more of the above mentioned skills, be willing to commit to at least three full days a week for up to two months and be available to work on week-ends and evenings depending on the performance schedule.
