Wanted: Guinness Collection Intern
The Curator of the Murtogh D. Guinness Collection of Mechanical Musical Instruments and Automata is seeking an intern to assist with cataloguing the Collection. The position requires that the intern possess good communication skills, attention to detail, ability to follow specific processes, demonstrates excellent research skills, and can work independently. Dependability, accountability and timeliness are a must! A background in the humanities, history, art history, or museum studies is preferred.
Intern’s primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cataloguing the Music Storage Media including accessioning, handling and labeling objects
- Assessing and writing condition reports
- Responsible for research related to the media
- Accurately entering information into collections database
Acknowledging the necessity of flexibility for interested, qualified applicants, a schedule will be mutually agreed upon by the Curator and selected applicant(s). Typical schedule includes cataloguing in the vault, one or two days per week, and one day to enter data into the collections database.
