History:
The first animation studies for the opera premiered at the BAM NextWave Festival in 2013 (image). This project has also been supported by Sundance’s New Frontier Program. Previously, this creative team collaborated on the short film Plan Of The City.
Animation Production:
Josh will be leading a small animation team, working out of 3LD, the technology/experience design studio that will be creating our scenic projection technology, based in lower Manhattan. Interns and junior animators from previous projects with Josh have gone on to freelance and staff positions at studios including The Mill and Framestore.
Timeline:
Our team will begin work January 5 and deliver the first batch of animation in early March. There will be opportunities for work to continue through May and beyond. Interest in extending beyond March is a plus but is not required.
Requirements:
Knowledge of one or more of the following:
- modeling/animation in maya
- nuke
- after effects
Strong visual and aesthetic design instincts/sensibilities
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Passion for learning
Positive attitude and ability to take direction
Compensation
Pay is a weekly stipend, commensurate with experience. Because our funding comes from grants, the rates are below those in advertising, but we expect the work to be artistically fulfilling in a way that is difficult or impossible to find in the commercial world.
