Researcher
We are group of tech-friendly social science researchers embedded in a high-tech development lab for the car of the future. The Nissan Research Center in Silicon Valley is a hotbed for thinking about transportation systems, driving, and autonomous vehicles as well as the people that use, intersect with, design, build and bring these systems to life. We work with a range of technical specialists on the development of autonomous driving systems, with us supplying a strong focus on social, cultural and human dimensions. What you might find if you check us out is a lively and driven group of anthropology types and human-centered designers/engineers doing ethnographic field studies, examing cultural histories and industry trends, developing concepts and designs, or mocking up and testing prototypes.
We are looking for someone who will bring hands-on technical capability to help bring our research to life in the form of technical concepts, designs, and prototypes. We are especially interested in technically-capable researchers with experience translating qualitative data and research results into system and machine interface concepts and designs. Especially relevant fields of practice include computer engineering, HMI/HRI/HCI, and human-centered design. If you are someone with literacy in algorithm construction, capability with programming languages, and exposure to fields like robotics, testing via simulation or agent-based modeling, but also have a passion for people and an undying curiosity in examining social and cultural meanings, we’d love to hear from you! |
