Temporary Project Title: GOM
Venue: Galley / Public Space
Project SUMMARY
GOM (God Oh Mighty) consists of participants playing with toy bumper vehicles, battling against who can eject their opponent first. Each vehicle is representative of a religion: Catholicism, Judaism, Islam, and Taoism. The vehicles are supposed to look otherworldly, not like common motor vehicles. This playful game gives a very serious religious topic a satirical undertone. When the driver gets hit in a precise spot they are ejected, and a silly tune will mockingly play. Once they bump another car they just keep moving on to bump someone else. The cars all go at one pace, no car has the advantage of speed over another car. They do not have motors like real motor vehicles. The variables participants do have control of are to go left, right, forward, and reverse.
Looking for assistance in producing a prototype of a human scale bumper car that will be used in a multi media exhibition. Need help developing the design as well as the engineering for the mockup. It should have two options: controlling the car with a passenger/doll and a remote; and controlling it as a driver. It needs to fit a human without being on the scale of a real car. Approximately size 3ft H x 3ft L x 3ft D. The cars will need bumping sensors with noises.
