Job/Internship Title:
Product Management Apprentice
Job/Internship Description:
A product management apprenticeship with our team is an opportunity to
grow your expertise in product development and management, design,
digital services, or public policy and help improve the lives of
millions of New Yorkers. We are currently seeking students and recent
graduates with an interest in these disciplines: product management
and development, public policy, or social impact.
Apprenticeships are paid by the hour, part-time or full-time, with a
minimum of three days per week. Summer 2018 Apprenticeships will run
from the beginning of June until the end of August. Projects will
focus on the delivery, on-going success, and continuous improvement of
government services.
If an internship, what specifically will an ITP student learn?:
Contribute to product strategy and success metrics, including Key
Performance Indicator (KPI) models, monthly analytics, roadmaps, etc.
Assist with vendor and stakeholder management.
Assist in sprint management—working across teams to assure sprints
are completed on time and to specification.
Participate in the development and execution quality assurance (QA)
testing of products.
Assist in defining feature and functionality requirements.
Participate in user research and synthesis.
Assist in the creation of prototypes, design assets, and project
documentation.
Collaborate in the creation of product development and management
documents, including roadmaps, project briefs, and user stories.
Required Skills:
Commitment to the mission of advancing greater equality and
opportunity through human-centered design practices in government.
Previous experience in product management or development, or managing
the design and development of technology projects.
Ability to develop metrics and produce reports for products and
initiatives.
Turning user research insights and data into new product features or
enhancements.
Technical and design fluency and organization to support product
vision and development.
Interest in using plain language to help residents access and interact
with government services.
