Computer Support Specialist
Marymount School of New York, an independent, Catholic girls school seeks a collaborative computer support specialist to join its computer support team. The school, with 750+ students has a 1:1 MacBook Air and iPad program and also has Windows-based machines in select offices. The ideal candidate will be team-oriented and flexible, ready to work in a dynamic school environment that includes three campuses in Manhattan.
Skills that the position involves include working with:
1. Hardware and software expertise

Mac desktop support & software troubleshooting
-
Windows desktop support & software troubleshooting
-
Mac server configuration & troubleshooting, including caching server, open directory, file systempermissions, etc.

iPad and iOS device configuration and support
-
MDM device management procedures and tools
-
Windows server configuration & troubleshooting, including Active Directory
-
Hardware: replace logic boards, RAM, and hard drives on various generations of hardware, etc.

Familiarity with Apple software such as Pages, Keynote, & iMovie
-
Printer configuration and support
-
Configuration and support of audiovisual hardware such as touch screens and projectors
2. Management and administration of the Marymount email system and the G-suite for education
-
Create new users and groups, assign permissions, and passwords
-
Monitor ongoing security issues
-
Liaise with Google tech to resolve issues.
3. The Virtual Private Network (VPN) that connects the three campuses (four including a construction trailer at a new building site).

Dell NSA 2600 firewall, monitoring and support at all four locations
-
Continuously monitoring and updating filtering services to keep out viruses and to preventstudents from accessing damaging content
-
Familiarity with Spectrum fiber E-Lan
-
Switches and routers–support Dell 2024 switches
4. WiFi Network
-
Aruba AP205/225 access points spread through all 3 campuses.

Central Aruba WiFi Controllers– Aruba Mobility 7214
-
Monitor the health of the WiFi network on all campuses; fix problems as they arise.

Familiarity with AD server that administers users authentication for the Aruba WiFi system.
5. S2 Security
- Includes S2 camera surveillance, WiFi door locks, and proximity card administration system, for faculty, students and staff
- Work with vendor to maintain the integrity and security of the system
6. Telephone network
-
Troubleshoot and administer Marymount’s AVAYA-based telephone extension system

Ensure the telephone VPN on the 3 campuses is working properly and voice quality is ofacceptable standard

Understand the core technical issues involved in upgrading the phone system
7. Cyber security
- Familiarity with cyber security best practices and procedures.
8. Copiers
- Basic troubleshooting and support of copiers on all three campuses.
Requirements:
- degree in computer science
- experience with printers, networks, copiers, phone systems
- experience with Mac and PC environments
- intermediate-expert level of Excel
- knowledge of databases, in particular Blackbaud’s K-12 products, a plus
