The Open Arts Program BFA in Collaborative Arts at NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, invites applications for a full-time non tenure-track faculty position in Emerging Media and Digital Arts at the rank of Assistant Arts Professor. This position, which holds a multi-year contract with the possibility of renewal upon successful review (held in the penultimate year of the contract), will commence September 1, 2019.

The Open Arts Program seeks a candidate who possesses expertise in one or more of the following digital media production areas: web-based media, computer-generated arts/animation, game design, software design, digital graphic arts, music production, interactive media arts, or app design. Our ideal candidate will possess a broad range of technological proficiency and be passionate about creating technologically-literate generations of visual artists and storytellers.

In addition to possessing expertise in emerging media and digital arts, candidates must also possess history, interest, and proven expertise in leading collaborative projects for performance and/or exhibition. Candidates must possess a history of the ability to work with other faculty and students across disciplines and fields of study in a classroom environment of creative collaboration.

Responsibilities include teaching a five-course academic year load in digital arts and media courses and cross-disciplinary, multi-media collaborative arts laboratories to BFA students and non-majors, and service to the Open Arts Program and the Tisch School of the Arts. Candidates must have established professional careers and continue to pursue their creative activities while teaching. Ideally, candidates will hold an MFA; previous teaching at the university level is preferred.
