Design & Engineering Teacher
Grades 6-10
Full Time, 7:30 am-4 pm
Position Overview
Dwight School, an innovative preschool-grade 12 coeducational school on the Upper Westside of Manhattan, is currently offering in-person and remote academic programming for the 2022-23 school year. We are seeking a self-directed, experienced, and energetic Design and Engineering Teacher to begin in August 2022.
Responsibilities

Teach multiple sections of design-engineering technology classes in grades 6-10

Help maintaining makerspaces
-
Work with faculty on the increased integration of purposeful technology in their curricula, refreshing existing curricula with innovative uses of technology where appropriate

Develop and deliver internal academic technology training for teachers across divisions

Model innovative technology use for other Dwight faculty members

Mentor students through Dwight School’s Spark Tank incubator program
Qualifications:
-
Teaching experience in one or more of the following disciplines: design; engineering; digital fabrication, robotics

Experience working in a school with a 1:1 program
-
Experience with the IB Middle Years Program Technology/Design (preferred)

Experience in digital fabrication techniques and machines, software and hardware

Ability to work collaboratively and collegially with a diverse community of students and educators

Ability to contribute positively to the community with patience and humor
