Junior Bulk Email Support Assistant
The Digital Communications Group at NYU (DigiComm) maintains the University’s primary communication platforms including bulk email, Email Direct powered by Emma, the main NYU.edu website powered by NYU’s enterprise web content management system (CMS), NYU Mobile app, and NYUHome.
This position interacts with full-time staff working in design, email and web development, project management, and overall client support. This opportunity provides workplace experience and insights into how a global organization uses technology to communicate with mass audiences.
The ideal candidate is interested in digital communications, is dependable, diligent, detail-oriented, has excellent communication and problem-solving skills and knowledge of HTML and CSS, coding for emails, is a plus. They must be available for 10-20 hours during business hours, most of which will be on-site. (This is not a remote-only position.)
Employment is on a semester-by-semester basis with a preference for multiple semester employment where possible.
Primary Responsibilities
- Development of email templates using a drag-and-drop interface with spot-coding of HTML and CSS
- Conduct thorough testing to identify and resolve rendering issues in various email clients, broken links, and other potential problems before deployment ● Provide technical support for troubleshooting issues and problems (creating, editing, sending, etc.) with email campaigns and templates
Requirements
- Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, particularly as supported by major email clients
- Excellent quality assurance process (detail in coding, testing, etc.) ● Ability to troubleshoot and resolve email rendering issues efficiently ● Ability to work independently, communicate with team members, and manage time effectively
Knowledge of the Following is a Plus
- Image editing (format, resolution, exposure, color balance, and cropping, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Digital Accessibility Standards
- Familiarity with different browsers, text options, and email clients
Education/Certification
Undergraduate or Graduate in any program.
Evaluation Procedures & Frequency
This position meets with the supervisor weekly for review of assignments and evaluation.

NYC Salary Transparency Statement
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly base salary range for student employment positions are $16-$18 per hour for undergraduate students and $28.25-$29 per hour for graduate students. The hourly rate for graduate employees is based on the collective bargaining agreement with Local 2110.
