JOB: UIX Design Project

Adjunct NYU Professor in Computer Science has developed a free web-based platform for
secondary school teachers. The platform (ctforall.net) enables teachers to use integrate
concepts of computational thinking into their existing lesson plans. Computational thinking (CT)
is now an education standard in most states, and involves teaching high-level principles of data
abstraction, pattern recognition, and algorithms. CT is not coding but rather understanding of
general programming logic concepts. The site currently is in use in a variety of situations, but
lacks consistent, modern UIX. The professor is seeking someone to upgrade the current site
possibly with improved icon graphics, cosmetics, material presentation, etc. The chosen
designer will spend some time becoming familiar with the intended audience, similar sites and
overall differentiation of this platform within the education domain. Using general design and
UIX skills, the designer will create some pages, provide templates for others, create a toolkit of
CSS files and icons. Opportunities exist for the designer to learn about the technical architecture
of this application.

Applicants should have completed the IMS Design Fundamentals and User Experience Design
courses. The estimated time period is 40-80 hours, with a remuneration of $1000 to $1500.
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa
sponsorship now or in the future. To apply, please email with the subject – UIX Designer, — a
statement of your academic interests, examples of your past products and availability over the
next weeks to Professor Moody (dlm9@nyu.edu).
