Seed-funded job board seeks NYC-area PHP/Zend Developer
Urban Interns (www.urbaninterns.com) is a job board for part time jobs and internships. We’re based in NYC. We’ve been around for nearly two years with a drupal site, but after closing a round of funding this summer, we recently relaunched the site in custom php using the Zend framework. We are looking for a php developer to help us take the product to the next level. We’re looking to add new features and continue to tweak our existing ones.
As our new developer, you’ll be doing a little bit of everything – front end, back end, and systems admin work. But the main focus/time spent will be back end. You must be located in NYC or surrounding area.
The position will start at about 50-75 hours/month and scale to full time over the next 3-6 months. We’re looking for someone who is excited about working at a startup, and is resourceful in terms of problem solving. Pay will be a combination of cash plus equity.
Required Skills:
* 3+ years experience with front and back end web development
* Expert level CSS, including best practices, standards and optimization techniques
* Expert with cross-browser compatibility
* Expert level html, XHTML
* Expert level Lucene, MySQL, PHP, Zend
* Knowledgeable in page load time optimization
* Experience with OO JavaScript, AJAX, JSON, jQuery
* Experience with developing applications using Model View Controller design patterns
* Experience with source control and version control tools (preferably
Subversion)
* Experience with Linux command line
* Understanding of Social Networking and Web 2.0 technologies
* Experience using 3rd party development API’s (Facebook, Google, etc.)
* Ability to work in a small team and build consensus with colleagues
