Re: bay area summer internship opportunity

well-played!

i was ac=
tually just about to post something to this thread, i admit

**
here are some highlights:
I have been really close to jumping in and telling people to ton=
e it down etc but I must say

I have wondered about your t=
actic about offering jobs to people when they insult you (or speak strongly =
towards you) is a bit strange.  while strange enough to make me think i=
t is zen-like, it makes me think that someone will punch me in the face when=
i mention your name at the job interview.
I t=
hink it is also strange that you don’t say that you believe in this philosop=
hy, but rather that Seth does.  I don’t know Seth but I must say that I=
recoil also when I think about people paying for interviews and for interns=
hips.  when I interview with a company, for me it is just as much an in=
terview with the company to see if they deserve me working there.  yes,=
i am that special.  to pay for it implies an unequal relationship betw=
een the applicant and the institution offering that job.  (i would rath=
er be poor and struggling than feel like i am getting f*cked/ditching my int=
egrity even before I start the job).  i think putting a high price tag =
on something to try and equate value with it is a misguided principle. &nbsp=
;it starts to either smell of bad art or everything that i think is wrong wi=
th marketing (and i don’t hate all marketing).
where it sounded like a real thing before, it is now sounding like a&=
nbsp;weird april fools joke to me too now .  we have established t=
hat there is a difference opinion regarding this seth tactic between you and=
a lot of people on this list.  i would say it is probably best that yo=
u don’t mention this Seth tactic of “increasing productivity in hiring” agai=
n.  telling about jobs, i would say is a good thing (both parties benef=
it, hopefully).  bringing up this paying for jobs, not so good…

John, I’m sorry you feel that way.&=
