Time Inc. Interactive
seeks a senior Interaction Designer. This position is responsible for
=
developing and executing design solutions
related to Rich Internet applications and complex information environments.=
The
senior interaction Designer works on high profile or complex projects.
Develops, presents and documents detailed interaction and functional
specifications. Is familiar with the online publishing environment, has a
proven track record of working with large and small scale information datab=
ases
and achieving positive user responses. Establishes design guidelines, best
practices and standards for TII.
They will be especially efficient in writing a=
nd documenting user experience methodologies
and standards.

 
Core
Responsibilities

Strong communicat=
ions skills and ability to build
working relations across all levels of an organization, Product Sponso=
rs,
Edit Leads, Product Managers, Tech Leads, Developers and Visual Design=
ers
to create final interface features
Presents, defends and strives for consensus and closure
on interface design solutions
Performs ongoing usability research on prototypes and
iterative designs
Leads desig=
n guidelines, best practices, and standards
in order to enhance business efficiencies, search engine optimization =
and
usability performance
Create =
strategies and procedures for carrying out reusable
components across multiple products and leveraging business requiremen=
ts
through cross product design and recirculation opportunities
Analyzes customers=E2=80=99 patterns and tre=
nds and assessing
ongoing usability and performance.
Develops testing and prototype methodologies.

 
Qualifications

Has =
strong knowledge of information design principles
and
well developed skills in creating and documenting
all aspects of business requirements, interface design (wire framing, =
story
boarding, rough layouts, mock-ups, interface elements and icons),
functional specifications (technical writing and annotations), user ne=
eds
(flow charts, scenarios and prototype testing) and informati=
on
architecture (site maps and navigation) are critical.
Exceptional ability to document and defen=
d
methodologies
Experience
developing rich interaction interfaces and documenting these through
storyboards.
At leas=
t 5 or more years of experience in designing and
testing online consumer product interfaces and content tools applicati=
ons
and a clear understanding of online publishing environment
Can moderate in house usability r=
esearch, create
prototypes and is familiar with TechSmith=E2=80=99s Morae usability so=
ftware.
Proficient in =
InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop,
Acrobat, Visio, Microsoft Word Suite and Excel and have working knowle=
dge
of HTML, CSS, Flash, After Effects, and Content
Management Systems
Advanced degree or background in one of the following
is preferred: Human Factors Engineering, Interaction Design, Cognitive
Psychology, Industrial Engineering, or Computer Science and/or compara=
ble
work experience

 
The position
is not a staff posi=
tion but would be on going freel=
ance or project based work. You
must be
New York-based and be able to w=
ork on site.
