JOB: Hands-on developer needed for phone app used in live performance

My name is Andrew Schneider. I’m an artist (ITP grad, occasional teacher there) making a hidden-in-plain-sight dance piece for 70+ performers on the Plaza at Lincoln Center this October, with an out-of-town tryout in Chatham, NY in September. The engine of the performance is a phone app that syncs discreet audio across hundreds of devices — basically a distributed in-ear-monitor system for performers and audience.

It mostly works (we’ve been using it successfully in rehearsal and test performances). I need someone to take it over: maintenance, stress testing, bug fixes, App Store / Play Store compliance, audience-facing build-out, and co-PM through the run. Hands-on. Also fun – if you think that using an app for coordinating flash-mob type performances is fun.

Stack: React Native + Expo, with iOS (Swift/CoreAudio) and Android (Kotlin/C++/Oboe) native audio engines, Node.js server on Railway, WebSocket for real-time control.

Compensation: $3,000. Some on-site (Midtown, Tribeca, Chatham), some remote. Hard milestone: live in testing tracks by July/Aug.

Timeframe: Estimated 10-20 hours a week, June-September
