Job Description=

As Media Coordinator, your=20
role will be to maximize Avaaz's media profile with the purpose of achi=
eving=20
our stated campaigning and organisational objectives. You will help=20
to build the overall media strategy of Avaaz and develop and implement=20
regular issue-specific media campaigns. You will play a central role=20
in one of the most innovative and promising public organizations in=20
the world today.=A0 The role offers a unique platform from which=20
to develop and pursue large-scale social change efforts.

Specifically, responsibilities=

Monitoring the=
media=20
landscape, pitching stories and responding to requests from journalists Facilitating journa=
lists'=20
communications with Avaaz's Executive Director and other media spokes=
people=20
as appropriate

rafting Avaaz press=20
releases, advisories and briefing notes
Advising the Avaaz=20
team on strategies, story generation ideas and talking points

Working with the=20
Avaaz team to purchase campaign advertising and maximising the media=20
exposure off the back of it
Creating and publicising=20
media events, stunts and photo opportunities
Working in coalition=20
with other partner organizations on media and communications strategies Attending internati=
onal/regional/national=20
summits and events to pitch Avaaz spokespeople to reporters and arrange=
=20
press conferences
Managing relationships=20
with the media and partners in non-English languages
Maintaining a database=20
of media contacts and clippings
Acting as media=20
spokesperson (as required)

We have global team retreats three times per year. Our staff =96 a small=20

major advantage for this job. Avaaz covers office costs, either to establis=

a home office or to rent one, and we support staff to house themselves=20
in large partner organizations of Avaaz (such as Oxfam) when preferred.. =A0

Compensation and Benefits=A0

Salary varies with location=20
and experience, but is highly competitive with leading non-governmental=20
organizations. Benefits also range with location, but include 4 weeks=20
paid vacation per year. The contract is for one year, with the strong=20
expectation that a successful year will lead to a longer term commitment. =A0
