ISAW is a center for advanced scholarly rese=
arch and graduate education, intended to cultivate comparative and connectiv=
e investigations of the ancient world from the western Mediterranean to Chin=
a, open to the integration of every category of evidence and relevant method=
of analysis. It will feature doctoral and postdoctoral programs, with the a=
im of training a new generation of scholars who will enter the global academ=
ic community and become intellectual leaders. Built around a mix of establis=
hed and younger scholars, the Institute is designed to make possible concret=
e progress in ground-breaking study that would be more difficult within narr=
ow disciplinary bounds.

 

Beginning November 2009, IS=
AW will be installing its second exhibition entitled The Lost World of Old E=
urope: The Danube Valley 5000-3500 BC, which features prehistoric material f=
rom Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova.  The Exhibitions and=
Public Programs Department of ISAW is inviting applications from qualified =
and suitable graduate students for the position of
Gallery Attendant. We=
seek three graduate students to work as Gallery Attendants from October 1, =
2009 through May 1st, 2010.


Gall=
ery Attendants will be asked to work 20 hours a week and perform a wide vari=
ety of educational and gallery duties These include (but are not limited to)=
conducting specialized tours of the exhibition, handling all catalogue sale=
s and financial records around these sales, and assisting senior members of =
the exhibition staff with various research and administrative projects.&nbsp=
;

Graduate students in the history of art, archaeology, anthropolog=
y, and classics are preferred. Museum experience is desirable.  Must be=
work-study eligible. The position will be paid $17 an hour.  Intereste=
