JOB: Information Architect/User Experience Designer

Job description

Hearst Digital Media is looking for an information architect/user experience designer with 5+ years of experience. The information architect/user experience designer will act as the advocate for the end user throughout the process of defining and implementing the site. The IA/UXD will work with web editors, business analysts, designers, and project managers to create new standards for a suite of content destination sites. This is a great opportunity to not only create elegant solutions for our brands in the web and mobile space but also to help shape our growing IA/UX discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Apply strategic thinking to deliver end-to-end user experience solutions with a focus on user needs and business goals.
  • Gather and translate business requirements into intuitive interface solutions
  • Create documentation to communicate both the spirit and details of the architecture, information design, page flow and functionality to internal teams and the project client.
  • Develop detailed wireframes that incorporate the technical, editorial, and usability aspects of web design projects
  • Participate in user research/usability testing
  • Collaborate with business analysts, design team and project managers as well as editorial staff to define new projects
  • Organize and maintain a library of patterns and templates to use across our network
  • Contribute to our approach for User Experience planning, best practices, standards, guidelines and processes for the company’s offerings

Job qualifications

A portfolio of URLs, user process flows, site maps and wireframes

  • Proficient in interpreting usability data, common site metrics and statistical analysis skills
  • Excellent communications skills – Candidate needs to be able to communicate the vision of the user experience and functionality to the team and Business Units, negotiate conflicts, build consensus and act as a strong advocate for our users.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills
  • Solid proficiency in a variety of design and prototyping tools such as Visio and Axure
  • Comfortable working with tight deadlines and multiple projects
  • Experience designing user-centered mobile and web based applications
  • Understanding of the capabilities and limitations of HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Human Computer Interaction, Design or a related field.
