SCAD Hong Kong seeks candidates for full-time faculty positions in game development beginning in the winter of 2011. Qualified candidates should have a terminal degree, or its equivalent in game development or a related field. A strong portfolio that reflects a high degree of knowledge in game design, game art and development is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years experience in the game industry and should be able to teach courses in game design and development. These include production of 2D and 3D game art assets, game design, environment and level design, and game prototyping. Candidates should be familiar with the historical evolution of games. Ideal candidates should be familiar with developing games on 2-3 platforms, including consoles, PC, mobile and social networking games. Candidates should be familiar with the game development life-cycle and methodologies such as agile development. Familiarity with game prototyping tools, game engines and the ability to write scripts within these engines is desirable. Experience with one or more shipping game titles is preferred. Experience developing e-learning courses and/or teaching in an online format is desirable.

Professor of Motion Media Design
SCAD Savannah seeks candidates for a full-time faculty position in the motion media department. Qualified candidates should have the terminal degree or its equivalent in motion media design, digital media, or a related field. College-level teaching experience is a plus as well as curriculum development experience. Candidates with industry experience are preferred. Ideal candidates should be proficient in motion media design tools including the Adobe Creative Suite and Apple Final Cut Pro. Candidates must be able to communicate with and motivate students to think creatively and critically and apply higher-level theoretical models to the practice of digital media in order to prepare students for rapidly evolving motion media design careers.

Drexel University announces at least one and possibly two tenure-track faculty positions available in its Drexel Game Design Program, a collaborative effort between the Digital Media Program in the Westphal College of Media Arts & Design and the Computer Science Department in the College of Engineering. The start date for the anticipated positions is September 1st, 2011.

Drexel University is ranked third of the 50 best undergraduate institutions in the U.S. and Canada to study game design, according to GamePro Magazine and The Princeton Review.
The Digital Media Program offers BS degrees in Game Art & Production, Animation & Visual Effects, and Web Development, and also offers an M.S. in Digital Media. The Computer Science Department currently offers a BA, BS, MS, and Ph.D. in Computer Science and a BS and an MS in Software Engineering. The CS Department also offers a Concentration in Game Programming & Development for its undergraduate students that parallels the Game Art & Production Major in the Digital Media Program.

Responsibilities include teaching introductory through advanced studio and lecture courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, pursuit of research, scholarship and/or creative works, curriculum development, and service at the collegiate and university levels.

Digital game development is offered in a coordinated, cross-listed series of courses in both the Computer Science and Game Art & Production majors.
REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate should hold a Ph.D. or Masters in a related field with a demonstrated body of accomplishments within game research or industry. We are seeking candidates who have a broad array of knowledge and skill, which may include game engine programming, mobile game development, artificial intelligence, HCI, computer graphics, 3D animation, 3D modeling, and/or current rendering technologies and may have backgrounds in either Computer Science or Digital Media.

The Department:
To meet the needs of an expanding academic vision and a growing student body, Ringling College is seeking qualified candidates for several full time faculty positions in Motion Design (MD) with expertise for teaching a variety of courses within the following areas: motion graphics and typography for MD; traditional and experimental animation techniques; 2D animation; 3D animation; advanced compositing techniques and visual effects animation. The department has a supportive, collegial faculty and flexible curriculum that strongly values excellence. The MD department has robust support dedicated to using the most current technology.

Included among the Duties and Responsibilities of this position are: contributions to the development and refinement of the program. Ability to teach beginning through advanced Motion Design courses within a structure of three courses or nine credits per semester. Ongoing commitment to creative work/research in the profession is expected and active participation with faculty, department and college service is required.

These are full time appointments with faculty status. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2011.

Required Qualifications for the position will include evidence of:
• A master’s degree in motion design, broadcast design, animation or related field, with an outstanding record of professional creative achievement OR a master’s degree that demonstrates expertise appropriate for teaching across a menu of MD courses, such as: traditional and experimental animation techniques; 2D animation; 3D animation; advanced compositing techniques, visual effects animation and senior thesis OR a 4-year professional degree in art or design and equivalent experience, training and expertise with an appropriate record of professional achievement in the field
• An ability to clearly communicate and work effectively with faculty, students and administrators
• Proficiency in digital technology relevant to the area and courses
• Willingness to work in a collaborative educational environment

Preferred Qualifications include evidence of:
• A MFA or other terminal degree in the field
• Successful college level teaching
• Capacity to increase the national reputation of the program
• Awareness of both current and evolving issues facing the field and strategies to best address them
• Proficiency with 2D animation and image creation software: After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash
• Proficiency with 3D animation software: Cinema 4D, Maya
• A background in motion design for broadcast and/or commercial, as well as skill with new digital technology relevant to the area
• Experience with studio lighting, video capture and compositing techniques
• Strong graphic design skills, with knowledge of image creation tools such as Adobe products
• Knowledge of scripting/programming for animation
• Proficiency in creating storyboards and animatics
• Significant professional/creative practice and work experience
