INTERN: Technology and Design Intern Application at OISS, NYU

The NYU Office for International Students and Scholars (OISS) is looking for an energetic and creative graduate student to fill an open technology and design intern position. This position provides assistance to the Communications Coordinator and Systems Administrator for OISS projects and issues related to technology, print/electronic design (including HTML emails, web design, posters, postcards, etc.) and web development. The time commitment is 20 hours per week during the 2011-2012 academic year with potential to extend to next academic year. The work is full time (40 hours/week) during the summer, starting mid-late July 2011. Hours worked would need to be within regular office hours (Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). Availability to work during university breaks is preferred. Salary is $18/hour. You must be a full-time student at NYU to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities include:

-update information and create designs for website, office intranet, and print publications

-brainstorm for effective strategies and follow-up in the creation of outreach, marketing, and programming tools using web technologies (e.g. blogs, Facebook, etc.)

-provide troubleshooting and resolution for open support calls

-assist with technology projects related to hardware/software deployment and database development

Qualifications/Experience/Skills needed:

-basic computer troubleshooting and good problem-solving skills

-experience and knowledge of Microsoft applications

-experience with desktop and web publishing applications such as Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.

-experience and knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP

-highly organized with the ability to work on many projects at the same time

-sound judgment regarding what is appropriate for office communications

-ability to work independently and seek guidance appropriately

Qualifications/Experience/Skills preferred:

-previous experience working in a higher education setting

-experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds
